About the president: Steven L. Dahlstrom is the president and chief executive officer of STCU based in Spokane, Wash., with offices in eastern Washington and north Idaho.
Dahlstrom currently serves as chair of the Eastern Washington University Foundation Board of Directors; member of the Spokane Workforce Development Council; member of the Greater Spokane Incorporated Board of Directors; and member of the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture Board of Directors. He is past chair of the Financial Services Centers Cooperative, and of the Education Credit Union Council. He is a graduate of the University of Montana and earned his MBA from Eastern Washington University.
Dahlstrom began his career in the credit union industry in 1978 at Missoula Federal Credit Union. Having just graduated from college, he was thrust into the manager's position within three months and helped the struggling credit union overcome a difficult time. After two years, he moved to Spokane and accepted a position as senior vice president at STCU, a position he held until 1991 when he was named CEO.
Under Dahlstrom's leadership, STCU has grown in assets from $20 million in 1980 to more than $1.3 billion, becoming the largest credit union in the Inland Northwest. Organized in 1934, STCU currently serves 85,000 members.
