ASSISTANT BRANCH MANAGER/TELLER DEPARTMENT
Job Mission:
Responsible for building and maintaining strong member relationships by meeting members' needs quickly with a high degree of accuracy. Facilitates operation of the Credit Union by performing analytical and administrative duties, and directs personnel toward achieving Credit Union goals.
Job Standards:
- Supervises and evaluates all employees in the Teller Department, ensuring that quality and progress meets credit union expectations.
- Directs employees by making decisions on questions of established work methods and work flow; assigns, directs, coordinates, and reviews work.
- Trains new employees, ensuring development and performance, and recommends changes in staff and salaries to Branch Manager.
- Reviews budget with Branch Manager and maintains adequate supplies of all materials used by the department.
- Evaluates work stations so they are adequately staffed and prepared to handle the needs of the members.
- Prepares reports of all shortages and overages on a daily basis and prepares counseling statements for all cash shortages and overages of $100 or more.
- Provides relief for vacations or absences whenever necessary to maintain accepted level of staffing; also schedules vacations and monitors and makes adjustments for sick leave.
- Uses communication skills effectively in order to work comfortably and successfully with the public in stressful situations.Ensures the proper maintenance, cleanliness, and security of work areas and equipment.
- Performs additional duties as required for smooth operation of the Teller Department.
Job Relationships:
This position reports directly to the Branch Manager. Will have day-to-day contact with credit union members, staff and management.
Job Qualifications:
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, four years teller experience or six years equivalent experience at another financial institution and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of two years' STCU teller specialist experience or equivalent experience at another financial institution.
- Ability to lead, direct, delegate, coach, counsel staff and cooperate with other employees. Must be service and goal oriented.
- Self-directed, motivated, detail-oriented and creative with the ability to work independently.
- Knowledgeable in all aspects of the teller function.
- Typing, ten-key calculator, and computer competency required. Knowledge of the following software preferred: Microsoft Office, Ultrafis, FSP, Telnet, and, ALPS.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures.
- Ability to work with staff and public tactfully and professionally, both personally and on the telephone, ensuring credit union service environment policy.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Ability to prepare and work within a budget.
- Knowledge of credit union policies, products and services.
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
- Meets physical requirements of the job as described:
~ Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear;
~ Required to stand, sit and reach with hands and arms;
~ Occasionally required to walk;
~ Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds;
~ Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
