NetTeller login box does not respond.
When you enter your Member # and Password in the STCU's NetTeller login boxes and click Log In, the link may not respond. This behavior occurs if you have previously installed the Internet Explorer 7 software from Microsoft, and then later uninstalled it using Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel. This behavior happens because a necessary Security Setting gets set to Disabled by default in Internet Explorer 7, and does not get restored to Enabled when Internet Explorer is removed.
As of November 1, Microsoft began pushing this upgrade out through Windows Update. If you allow for automatic updates for critical and high priority updates, then Internet Explorer may have been installed.
We have found a resolution to this issue. If you add STCU to your Trusted Sites, the Log In button will respond as expected and you will be able to access your accounts. Follow the steps below to resolve this issue:
- Within Internet Explorer, click on the Tools menu and choose Internet Options.
- Click on the Security tab.
- Click on the Trusted Sites icon.
- In the 'Security level for this zone' area, click the Custom Level... button.
- In the 'Reset to:' field, choose Medium from the drop-down list, and then click the Reset button.
- Click the OK button to return to the Security tab.
- With the Trusted Sites icon selected, click on the Sites button.
- In the Trusted sites window, uncheck the Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone checkbox.
- Type / in the 'Add this Web site to the zone: field and click the Add button.
- Check the Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone checkbox.
- Type https://secure.stcu.org in the 'Add this Web site to the zone: field and click the Add button.
- Click the OK button to close the Trusted Sites window.
- Click the OK button to close the Internet Options window.
In some instances, the log in box may still not respond. If the log in box does not respond, and you have followed the above steps exactly as presented, then perform the steps below:
- Within Internet Explorer, click on the Tools menu and choose Internet Options.
- Click on the Security tab.
- Click on the Trusted Sites icon.
- In the 'Security level for this zone' area, click the Custom Level... button.
- Scroll down to the Miscellaneous section of the Settings window (the Miscellaneous section is represented by an icon of a piece of paper with the blue 'e' on it).
- Find the option titled 'Navigate sub-frames across different domains'
- Change the setting to Enable.
- Click the OK button to close the Security Settings window.
- Click the Yes button when prompted with the 'Are you sure you want to change the security settings for this zone?' warning message.
- Click the OK button to close the Internet Options window.
If the above steps do not allow you to log in to NetTeller, then there are additional files and settings that may have been changed during the conversion back to Internet Explorer 6. Microsoft suggests you try the following actions to resolve this problem with your browser.
- Use System Restore to undo changes you've made to your computer.
You will need to use the calendar in System Restore to find a restore point that was created before you upgraded to Internet Explorer 7.
- Perform a Repair Installation of Windows XP.
You will need to have your Windows XP Setup CD available.
If you are unable to perform either of these suggestions (system restore is not enabled on your system, you don't have your Windows CD available, etc.), then your only other options are as follows:
