90% Loan Service Performance
1. Loan/Share Accountabilities
• Delinquencies
o Contact members by phone and letter to resolve their delinquent accounts, preparing adequate documentation on all collection action.
o Effectively monitor delinquencies to maintain an acceptable range
o Maintain positive relations with members, discussing sensitive, personal financial circumstances in a straightforward and tactful manner
o Negotiate acceptable payment arrangements which could include hardship deferment and debt management proposals
o Obtain credit reports when needed; ensure accurate and timely processing of disputed credit reporting items
o Perform skip-tracing to locate members as needed
o Process loan payments, payoffs and reversals.
o Offer support to other team members to assist in the collection efforts
• Bankruptcy (Loans/Shares)
o Assist in processing bankruptcy filings as they relate to existing loan files; updates to collection system and ensure that proper procedure is followed to protect the credit union's interest
• Repossessions
o Updates to repossession spreadsheet to ensure proper accounting for what vehicles are assigned for repossession, pending sales, and processing invoices, etc.
• Loan/Share Losses
o Accountable for preventing loan losses and taking necessary steps in the pursuit of recoveries after charge off.
o Prepare accounts to be referred to collection agency or attorney; follows legal action to be taken for small claims
2. Compliance, Security and Disaster Recovery
• Maintain knowledge in, and adhere to, compliance standards for the department.
• Adhere to security procedures and fraud controls to protect members, staff, and assets.
• Recommend changes to the disaster recovery plan for the department.
3. Procedures/Process Improvement
• Adhere to policies, procedures and established processes for the department
4. Projects/Consulting
• Assist with Loan Service projects as needed
5. Other Miscellaneous Duties
• Participate in title perfection functions as needed
• Participate in disability/credit life insurance claims as needed
• Perform additional duties as required by the Loan Service management or other designated individual for efficient operation of the credit union
• Attend meetings and training as assigned by Loan Service management

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. At least one year consumer collections experience in a financial institution or related industry and basic knowledge of laws pertaining to collections for FDCPA and Bankruptcy Code.
3. Excellent verbal/phone and written communication skills, as well as effective problem solving skills.
4. A passion for people and dedication to service of our members
5. The ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
6. Experience to Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, and Excel.) preferred.
7. Meets physical requirements of the job:
• Sitting for long periods of time
• Ability to speak, hear and see
• Ability to operate a computer keyboard and mouse
• Some lifting required (typically no more than ten pounds)
• Ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
