Enjoy 'shared branching' convenience at 7-Eleven® Stores

[August 26, 2008]

Sure, STCU has 12 convenient branch locations where you can cash checks, transfer funds, make a loan payment, and get a cookie on payday.

But what if you're commuting along Maple Street and don't want to drive out of your way to the nearest branch? Or visiting Millwood on a Sunday afternoon? Or what if you have accounts at two different credit unions and want to transfer money between them?

That's when 7-Eleven® Stores, the nation's pioneer in convenience store service, can help. Members of STCU -- and any participating "shared branching" credit union -- can conduct most banking transactions at many 7-Eleven locations day or night, 24 hours a day.

There are nine 7-Eleven locations (see list to the right) providing shared branching services to credit union members in Spokane County, with more than 2,000 other stores nationwide.

Look for the Vcom® Unit

Credit union banking at 7-Eleven is available through a Vcom® Unit, a self-service machine that works like an ATM but is connected to thousands of participating "shared branching" credit unions. Local shared branching participants include STCU, Global, Numerica, Spokane Federal, and Washington State Employees credit unions.

Here are some functions a Vcom can perform on any account you have at STCU or other participating credit unions:

Getting started with a Vcom® Unit

Give yourself a few extra minutes the first time you plan to use use a 7-Eleven Vcom Unit. You'll need to answer some security questions and create a personal identification number (PIN) for future visits. Keep your PIN to yourself and use it every time you access your accounts through a Vcom.

How to use a Vcom® Unit

Here's how to get started using a 7-Eleven Vcom Unit:

  1. Enter the full name of your credit union. (Use "Spokane Teachers Credit Union," not STCU.)
  2. Enter your member account number.
  3. Use your credit union debit or credit card.
  4. Answer the security questions.
  5. Create a PIN to be used in the future.
  6. If you have any problems, use the "Help Desk" phone at the Vcom.
