STCU is coming to Northtown.
Not the big shopping mall, but Northtown Square, a new boutique shopping center across the street.
The credit union has reached an exclusive agreement to build a branch at Northtown Square, a 71,000-square-foot center that will replace the 40-year-old Wendle Ford-Suzuki Dealership at the northwest corner of Division and Wellesley.
Government traffic studies show that more than 45,000 vehicles pass through that intersection daily.
"STCU's Northtown Square Branch should be popular from the get-go," says Steve Dahlstrom, CEO and president of the credit union. "Located at one of the busiest intersections in Eastern Washington, we'll serve members and local businesses inside the branch, in our Drive-Thru, and at the 24-hour ATM. It's going to be great."
Construction of Northtown Square will begin in July 2008, says Chud Wendle, managing member of Northtown Square, LLC. The Wendle car dealership will relocate to its North Division "Y" lot, three miles north.
“STCU will be an integral part of Northtown Square,” Wendle says. “Wendle Ford has been at this location for over 40 years, so it is important to partner with a local business that has some history in Spokane. We are delighted STCU will be a cornerstone tenant – it has a solid reputation for member service and for supporting our community.”
The STCU branch will open in spring 2009. The 3,400-square-foot building will employ six to twelve people and feature a 24-hour ATM and Drive-Thru service.
Part of the credit union’s strategy, Dahlstrom says, is to listen to the needs of individual members and business partners.
“Everyone wants great products and services for themselves or their employees, but they also need convenience," he says. "This beautiful new boutique mall will have easy access, plenty of parking, and you just can’t get more convenient than Division and Wellesley.”
The Northtown Square Branch will be STCU's 13th branch location. The not-for-profit organization in 2007 opened two branches in Kootenai County, Idaho, and has scheduled the opening of its Liberty Lake Branch for April 2008.
With $995 million in assets, STCU serves more than 71,000 members. Thousands visit STCU branch locations, but an increasing number also use STCU's free home banking, STCU's mobile banking, free online billpay, LiveChat and the online Mortgage Center and loan application tools.
“We offer highly innovative products and services,” Dahlstrom says, “but our primary focus is the relationship we have with our members.”
