The STCU billpay upgrade is complete.
Everything you need to know about the 2009 upgrade
Thanks for your patience as we completed the STCU billpay upgrade on November 17-18. The upgrade gives you the power to choose emergency same-day payments, to convert paper bills into e-bills, and much more.
Payee information and bill history has been preserved, and if you have any e-bill arrangements with payees who send you electronic bills, you will need to reset those e-bills after the upgrade. That's the best way for members who have e-bills to avoid any possible late payment after the upgrade.
Here's a schedule of changes during STCU's billpay upgrade:

Billpay upgrade FAQs
- Will STCU billpay still be free? Yes, STCU billpay remains free to pay all your bills online. Certain premium services are available for a modest fee, such as expedited payments or CD orders. Please see STCU billpay terms and conditions for details.
- Why the change? As a member-owned cooperative, we scan the horizon for product and service enhancements that maximize services and minimize costs. This upgrade will improve our service to you and save the credit union money.
- How will this change affect me? The upgrade will provide a number of new features as listed above. However, there are some important limitations that will apply to payments scheduled to be made November 18 through November 23 such as:
- Payments scheduled to be made between November 18-23 will be limited in their ability to be canceled after November 12, 2009.
- After the upgrade, you will not see your pending payments for November 18-23 in STCU billpay until one week after the upgrade. No reason for alarm, and no need to schedule another payment. All of your payments scheduled to be paid during November 18-23 will be processed and delivered on time - guaranteed.
- Your payment history for payments sent prior to November 18 and those scheduled November 18-23 will not be shown until one week after the upgrade.
- The ability to have some e-mail reminders sent on particular days will no longer be supported. Even more powerful online alerts and reminders will return in Spring 2010.
- What if I have payments scheduled for November 17 and 18? Will they be paid? Yes, all payments scheduled for our upgrade dates of November 17 and 18 will be paid without interruption.
- Why do I have to reset my e-bills after November 18? How do I do it? Due to the nature of the upgrade, we are required to have you reset your e-bills with any payees who currently send you electronic versions of your bills. When you log in to STCU billpay after November 18, simply click the "Set up e-bill" link for each payee you want to receive e-bills from and follow the instructions to enable your e-bills.
- Will STCU billpay look different after November 18? Yes. While billpay will have a new look as a result of this upgrade, the overall navigation and how you use the service should still feel familiar.
- Will I still be able to view all of my payees on one easy-to-read screen? Yes, viewing all of your payees is still just as easy as ever, but you may see some minor changes to the names of some of your payees after November 18. If you find this is the case, no need to be alarmed. In some cases, our improved billpay system will actually manage the name and address of many of the most common payees so that you don't have to.
- Can I make same-day or overnight payments? Yes. Expedited payments can be made in one of two ways, depending on the payee and what their receiving capabilities support. If they are set up to receive same-day electronic payments, the cost to process a payment is $3. Otherwise, the cost to send an overnight check payment is $20.
- How much of my payment history will be available after the upgrade? Transactions from the past six months will be available approximately one week after the upgrade (by November 25). Your payment history will hold up to two years of payment records going forward.
- How do I order a CD archive of my payment and e-bill history? A CD of your payment history and e-bills is available for $15 and can be ordered right within STCU billpay - look for the "Order a CD" option. (Note: E-bill images will only be available after November 18 once you re-enroll for e-bills with your eligible payees.) You can order a CD for the following time periods: year-end, quarterly, monthly, and specific date ranges. Orders for a year-end CD should be placed in January or February for the prior year. To protect your information, you will need a security key to access the information on your CD. After you receive your CD, log in to STCU billpay and click the "CD order status" link to find your security key.
- Do overdraft fees apply to payments made through STCU billpay? Yes. Because we do not monitor funds in your account when you are scheduling payments, it is possible for you to overdraw your funding account using STCU billpay. If a payment overdraws your funding account, you are subject to STCU's regular overdraft fees that apply to your checking or money market accounts. If a payment is returned due to insufficient funds, an additional returned payment fee of $25 will be charged by STCU billpay. In addition, STCU billpay privileges may be suspended, including the cancellation of pending payments, until returned payments have been properly settled.
- Can I still correct, cancel, or stop my bill payments? Yes, STCU billpay allows you to review, correct, and even cancel your payments as long as the payment is still in "pending" status. Most payments are sent electronically using STCU billpay, but if a payment is sent by check, you may also have the option to place a stop payment on it for a $25 fee. Stop payments cannot be placed for payments sent electronically.
