Ponderay, ID -- STCU today announced plans to open a Bonner County Branch on January 20, just north of Sandpoint, Idaho.

"It is great to offer personalized service in Bonner County," says Sherri Richardson, manager of the credit union's 13th branch location. "Until now, STCU had been serving the area through our Newport (Wash.) Branch or online at stcu.org."

The Bonner County Branch is located north of Sandpoint at the Ponderay Crossing of Kootenai Cutoff Road and Highway 95. It will employ three people, all residents of North Idaho.

STCU is a not-for-profit cooperative serving 78,000 members with checking and savings accounts, home and car loans, credit cards, ATMs and commercial loans. In addition, the organization has forged a business services department to handle a growing number of real estate loans, lines of credit, and checking accounts for small business owners.

"We offer innovative products and services, but more importantly consumer safety," says Steve Dahlstrom, president and CEO. "We care about the people we serve."

While STCU began as a teacher's credit union, it now serves members from all walks of life.

"We focus on the relationship we have with each member, supporting the communities where they live and work," Richardson says.

Dick Cvitanich at Lake Pend Oreille School District agrees.

"STCU called on us even before they located a branch here," he says. "They wanted to know how the credit union could partner with our schools to help us provide education to our students and their families."
