Save $90 a month
And other benefits of direct deposit
[Jan. 22, 2008]
What’s the easiest way to save an extra $90 per month? Skip lunch for two weeks? Throw a $1 into a jar each time you watch another "Lost" rerun?
Nope. The answer is direct deposit.
A study by the Electronic Payments Association found that people who use direct deposit for their paycheck and other regular deposits increase their savings balances by nearly $90 a month. Direct deposit is safer, too, reducing the threat of identity theft by depositing your paycheck or benefits check directly into your account.
And what could be "greener" than direct deposit? Checks from your employer or government office are deposited electronically into your STCU account without the need to pulp trees for paper or burn fuel to transport checks to your mailbox or workplace.
