Put a little recess in your recession
Take advantage of STCU's free and low-cost financial education opportunities
There's no escaping the financial news. Americans have watched stock-based investments lose value, but are paying more for utilities, health care, tuition, and other necessities. Also on the rise: unemployment rates and attempts to defraud you of your hard-earned money.
It's more important than ever to be careful with your money. STCU is here to help, with free and low-cost education opportunities. Here's a sampling of what we have to offer.
- The STCU Community Business Partner Program offers Dinner & Learn workshops in partnership with the City of Liberty Lake. Upcoming topics are "Investing on a Shoestring" (March 19) and "Becoming Debt-Free" (May 21). The FREE talks and dinners are at Liberty Lake City Hall. Call 755-6700 to RSVP at least one day in advance.
- STCU, in partnership with the Post Falls Chamber of Commerce, is offering Money Minutes, a series of hour-long morning sessions every other Friday, March 27 through May 8, at the Post Falls Police Department.
Money Minutes topics are: Starting (or re-starting) a business; free money (finding nuggets of gold in your financial statement); what to expect from a lender; and maximizing your money. Cost for the four-part series is $39, or $29 if you register by March 10. Proceeds go to the chamber of commerce. Register at the Post Falls chamber's website.
- Protecting yourself from identity theft is part of money management. You can properly dispose of documents at Shred Day, April 11, 10a.m. - 1p.m., at our Bonner County Branch in Ponderay, Idaho. Thanks to our co-sponsor, North Idaho College.
In addition to those events, STCU offers on-site workshops through community groups and our business partners, as well as My Life, My Money financial education for youth. Subjects include family budgeting and protecting yourself from financial scams. Give us a call to see what we can do for your group!
