Holiday gifts are supposed to be a surprise, right? Then how come so many people leave them in plain view in their car for a thief to steal?
Merry Christmas, Mr. Grinch.
Local authorities remind us that leaving packages in plain view in your car is a temptation to others seeking an opportunity to shop for "free." While you're inside the stores buying gloves and purses and DVDs, thieves may be helping themselves to gifts you've left in plain view inside your car.
Always keep your purchases - and purse or wallet - out of sight. Lock them in the trunk, tuck them under the seat, or carry them with you. It only takes a professional a few seconds to break into your car. Don't give them an incentive to "window shop" your car.
Keep your gifts out of sight.
