The Inland Northwest Philanthropy Committee has named STCU as the "Outstanding Corporation" for giving and support of local nonprofit organizations, the arts, education, and human welfare.
STCU, a not-for-profit financial institution, in October received the 2007 Inland Northwest Philanthropy Award as the top corporate benefactor in the Inland Northwest. Some of the recent beneficiaries of STCU included:
Winners were selected by a committee of 16 representatives of local nonprofit organizations, foundations, and other organizations, including the Inland Northwest Community Foundation. Other winners included individual philanthropists Edith Schuyler and Margaret Williams; Kyle Weir, outstanding young philanthropist; Lawton Printing, small business philanthropy; and special recognition to The Spokesman-Review.
STCU was featured for the award on October 25 in the Journal of Business, a local business newspaper. The credit union also received a $250 grant to a charity of choice. Kathleen Kozlowski, director of community relations and business development, said the grant will go to the Women Helping Women Fund.
