Washington and Idaho residents destroyed nearly two tons of private documents and financial information on Shred Day 2007 at STCU's Valley Branch.
It was a sad day for identity thieves -- but a great day for consumers! -- as nearly 100 people came to the branch October 20 to take advantage of the free document shredding offer. United Data Security shredding machines were on hand to pulverize mounds of sensitive documents.
The Valley Branch was one of three locations in Spokane that participated in Washington's first statewide Shred Day. Sponsored by the Washington State Credit Union League, the event celebrated International Credit Union Week and helped protect up to 8,000 people from identity theft by providing free document shredding.
