The public is invited to attend the 10th annual Eastern Washington University Student Research & Creative Works Symposium beginning at 8 a.m., Wednesday, May 16, in Senior Hall on EWU campus in Cheney.
This showcase of 242 undergraduate and graduate projects is the culmination of months of student and faculty mentor preparation. The Symposium offers participating students the opportunity to present their research - be it creative writing, oral presentation or artistic display - in formal professional settings while giving the public the chance to see them shine.
This year, student topics range from Increased Risk of Dental decay in Endurance Athletes to an Ungulate Survey on the Colville Indian Reservation. Faculty members judge the students' presentation skills and winners receive cash prizes.
The all-day event begins with a coffee hour on the first floor, includes a buffet luncheon in the PUB MPR, and features keynote speaker Dr. Dick Winchell, professor from the Department of Urban Planning, Health and Public Administration. Winchell presents "Incomplete Knowledge: Research in Search of Community, Culture and Change." The day is topped off with a performance by the EWU Honors String Trio at 4 p.m. in Tawanka Commons, followed by a reception.
