Make saving money fun

Classrooms K-3

Bring the Money Jar to your classroomRemember how much fun it was to have your own money when you were a kid? You used it for all kinds of things: candy, toys, movies, or games. As you got older, the goals (and toys) got bigger and more expensive, right?

Having a strategy to save and to allocate money to reach your goals can make all the difference. The STCU Money Jar helps you teach students how to stash money away for three different goals at the same time.

How it works

First, kids decide how much of their money they want to save, spend, or share with others. One slot on the Money Jar is for money the child wants to spend. The second slot is for savings. The third is for sharing with others.

The Money Jar helps students to set goals for what they want to do with their money. It instills lifelong savings habits and shows that saving and sharing is just as important as spending. It also opens dialogue about community involvement as students consider how they might share with others.

Use the Money Jar to teach a lesson in your classroom or invite an STCU expert to come and do it for you.
