Suzanne is loyal to her credit union. So loyal, that she often touts the benefits of membership to friends who say they’re fed up with poor service at other financial institutions. Naturally, her children grew up to become credit union members.
But teaching isn’t one-way in Suzanne’s family. Those same young adults who learned from Mom about the advantages of belonging to a not-for-profit credit union have convinced her to try some modern features.
Five years ago, "I'd sit down at the beginning of the month and the middle of the month and write a bunch of checks," she says. "It was really time-consuming."
Now, her monthly payments go out automatically, thanks to STCU's free online billpay. Between that and her STCU CheckCard, Suzanne rarely writes a check anymore. She uses online banking to keep tabs on her balances and move money between accounts. That leaves more time to walk Woody, her 15-year-old springer spaniel.
"Sometimes we have to change the way we think about things and appreciate how much it simplifies our lives," she says. "Just little things, like not standing in line and writing a check."
