What is Twitter? It's an online micro-blog (140 characters or less) read by those who want to keep in touch.
As a free social networking service, Twitter lets you connect with others, sending and reading one another's updates, known as "tweets," from your mobile device or home computer. Some people do it once a week; some once a minute.
Some use it to track famous people such as Shaquille O'Neal. (He's a very large professional basketball player.) Others use it to follow minute-by-minute news updates from National Public Radio and other sources. Most twitter simply to stay connected in an increasingly fast-moving world.
