President/CEO Ezra Eckhardt

President/CEO

Ezra Eckhardt is our president and chief executive officer. He is a fifth-generation Spokane resident with a record of community service. A distinguished graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and Army veteran, Ezra is the fifth person to take the helm of STCU since the credit union was founded in 1934.

Justin Botejue

Justin Botejue

When elected in 2020, Justin became STCU’s youngest-ever elected board member.

Justin has been an STCU member since enrolling at Whitworth University, where he majored in political science with a focus on legislative policy. An avid learner, Justin is currently back at Whitworth pursuing his MBA.

Justin served at STCU in 2019 as an affiliate member of the STCU board. He currently works in the business development department at Shriners Hospitals for Children-Spokane.

Justin is proud to call the Northwest home and he's devoted to helping the region flourish by serving in leadership roles for a variety of local non-profits.

Catherine Brazil

Catherine Brazil

Catherine became an STCU member as a teen, and joined the board in 2014.

Dedicated to community service, she's currently on the boards for Hutton Settlement, Salvation Army, CCS Foundation, and the Honor Point Museum. She also is active with Greater Spokane Incorporated.

Catherine is a third-generation Husky, with a degree in political science and art history from the University of Washington, as well as a master's degree in international management from Whitworth University. These days, she wears two shades of purple: One as an STCU board member, and the other as regional director of government and community relations for UW.

Bill DeReu

Bill was elected to the STCU Board in 2023, after serving two years as an affiliate committee member.

A Montana native, he is currently the Vice President of Real Estate at PotlachDeltic Corporation. Bill brings a wealth of financial experience to the Board, particularly in mergers and acquisitions, which will no doubt prove useful as STCU continues to provide services across a wider geographical area. He believes in the concept of servant leadership and strives to live by STCU's motto: "Here for good."

Bill earned a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Montana, and holds a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation in commercial real estate.  

Addy Hatch

Vice Chairwoman

Addy is an award-winning communicator who made the jump from journalism to higher education.

Currently director of outreach and communications for the WSU College of Nursing, she previously was managing editor for The Spokesman-Review and a reporter for the Spokane Journal of Business.

With degrees from the University of Washington and Northwestern University, Addy teaches at Eastern Washington University and serves on the Greater Spokane Incorporated Public Policy Council and Health Care Committee, as well as the WSU President's Commission on the Status of Women.

Addy is a 2013 graduate of Leadership Spokane, joining the STCU board in 2019.

Steven Jones

Chairman

Steven is a Rogers High School graduate and Spokane attorney, who joined the STCU board in 2018.

The collegiate distance runner, and later competitive marathoner, has devoted years of community service to Bloomsday, the YMCA, Spokane Sports Commission, Spokane Park Board, Spokane Public Schools Foundation, Parasport Spokane, and other organizations.

Steven holds an economics degree from Stanford University and a law degree from the University of Washington. He currently practices law at Eymann Allison Hunter Jones P.S. Prior to becoming a lawyer, he directed YMCA Camp Reed for two years.

Vice Chairman Chris Morlan

Chris Morlan

Chris, who owns a local architectural firm, joined the STCU Board of Directors in 2013.

A former Lewis and Clark High School teacher and cross-country coach, Chris ran in the men's marathon trials for the 1996 U.S. Olympics team.

Now, he coaches post-collegiate athletes as part of the Spokane Distance Project.

Chris holds one bachelor's degree in education from Eastern Washington University, and another in architecture from the University of Idaho.

Jeff Perkins

Jeff, who joined the STCU Board in 2019, is a Boise State University graduate and operations manager for Post Falls-based Triple E Technologies.

He loves working with others to form innovative solutions, and has more than 25 years of experience with the Boundary County Community Hospital, Fry Healthcare Foundation, and other organizations.

Currently serving as a director of the Landings Home Owners Association, Jeff also volunteers at various youth programs and previously provided leadership to the Boundary County Chamber of Commerce and Boundary County Economic Development Council. His greatest treasure, Jeff says, is his wife, Karen, and their three sons.

When elected in 2011, Mike became the first person to serve simultaneously on the STCU Board of Directors and Audit Committee.

The owner of Rennaker Financial LLC, he works as a financial advisor and investment manager. Mike has worked as a consultant in business strategy, marketing, and technology. His volunteer work includes serving with Boy Scouts of America, the World Affairs Council, and coaching youth and adult sports.

Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in business and international trade from the University of Washington, and an MBA in international business and marketing from the American Graduate School of International Management.

Wally Stanley

Wally Stanley

A longtime member, Wally became an STCU board member in 2003 because he wanted to give back to the credit union.

During his 36-year career with the Central Valley School District, he started the district’s first speech therapy and special education programs, and served eight years as superintendent. Now retired, you’ll often find him on a golf course.

Wally double-majored in speech and education at Washington State University. At Eastern Washington University, he earned master’s degrees in those same fields, in addition to an administrative certificate.

Audit Committee Chairwoman Kathryn Dobson

Kathryn Gores

Chairwoman

Kathryn was elected to the Audit Committee in 2015 and has been the Chair of the committee since 2017.

She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from Washington State University, and has completed the Volunteer Certification Program through the Credit Union National Association.

Kathryn worked for a financial institution for ten years before joining Spokane Public Schools as a lead bookkeeper. She is currently the benefits specialist for Central Valley School District.

Lisa McCann

Lisa McCann

Lisa McCann has served on the Audit Committee since 2017. An STCU member for over 25 years, she remembers picking up her first checkbook at the Main branch with her mom, a teacher.

Lisa is a forensic accountant and brand protection leader in the high-tech industry. She currently works with the legal team of Juniper Networks, a networking solutions provider that powers the connections that matter most – from education to secure banking.

Lisa values STCU’s “Here for Good” commitment to the community and appreciates the opportunity to continue to serve and contribute her sound understanding of risk management and oversight.

Kevin Spohr

Kevin Spohr

Kevin became a member of STCU in 2008, when he needed a loan for a pickup that could navigate that winter’s deep snow.

He became an affiliate member of the STCU Board of Directors in 2010 and joined the Audit Committee in 2015.

Kevin holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting/entrepreneurship from Washington State University, an MBA from Gonzaga University, and is a certified public accountant in Washington.
